Preamble
Because the fundamental law of the land is embodied in the
Constitution of the United States and all statutory rights are derived therefrom,
The Equal Rights Amendment, as authored by Alice Paul, shall stand first,
foremost and above all other items that may appear on the Legislative Platform
of this Federation until equal, legal rights for women and men become guaranteed
in the United States Constitution.
The Equal Rights Amendment
Equality of rights under the law shall not
be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
Action Items:
The members of the Kansas Federation of Business and
Professional Women will support the BPW/USA National Legislative Platform
and, additionally, actively work on the following action items by seeking
knowledge, gaining understanding and taking action:
Economic Equity:
Raise awareness of legislation and the need to provide
economic equity for all women to enable women to meet their needs and/or the
needs of their families.
Health Issues:
Provide information that will empower women to make
informed decisions about the need for affordable health care options, for
more research and medical studies affecting women’s health, and for equitable
medical coverage for women throughout their lifetime.
Dependent Care:
Promote the increased availability and accessibility
of affordable, quality dependent care.
Domestic Violence:
Provide and/or promote programs that raise community
awareness about the unacceptability of violent behavior against women and
children. Actively support local domestic violence programs and shelters.
Actively raise awareness of women's safety issues and promote programs that
inform about protection.
